August 2016 music roundup

This month was a little better than the last. It's weird, but I don't seem to listen to much new music when I'm not working and don't have a routine. I guess it's because I don't spend so much time tethered to a computer/my phone, and I haven't worked out at a gym in over a month so I don't have that reason either. Plus I've been writing a lot, and I don't like to mix that with new music, usually. Anyway. Not like it matters.

Favorites from August

Releases from 2016: Crystalyne's Follow EP, Good Charlotte's Youth Authority, Dan Gibson's Solitudes, which I just discovered this month.

Older releases: Coldplay, The Naked & Famous, Sofia Jannok, Kingdom Hearts piano soundtrack.

Recommendations: Well, Coldplay is a personal favorite. London Grammar is great. I love everything Crystalyne does, especially their fun videos. The Naked & Famous are in my top-ten bands, and I'm really excited for their new album later this year. Shovel Knight & Kingdom Hearts have great soundtracks (almost done with the former game, too!). Good Charlotte know how to write some catchy hooks. Belinda is better than I gave her credit for, and I already liked her stuff. Sofia Jannok is a Swedish/Sami singer who does pop and jazz and traditional joiks and she's really interesting. And Dan Gibson's Solitudes are super relaxing and great for meditation and writing, which I did a lot of this month, and there are like a billion of them and most/all are on Apple Music.

That sounds like I'm recommending everything, so I'll just say: Listen to Crystalyne, The Naked & Famous, and Sofia Jannok. And play Shovel Knight.
